Wondering if you should get the print or digital version of Ahead of Her Time?

It’s a good question. Unlike most books, there’s actually quite a difference!

(For those who don’t know, Ahead of Her Time is my wildly entertaining YA novel that improves your vocabulary for the SAT and ACT, introducing you to more than 500 potential vocabulary words.)

The main difference has to do with how you see the definitions of the vocabulary words.

In the print version, the definitions are at the bottom of each page.

This is extremely convenient for two reasons.

The first is that you can appreciate (and understand!) the book without a dictionary next to you.

The second is that you’re not yanked out of the story every time you don’t know a term, like you would be if you had to go look up each “big” word.

In the digital version, you click on words you don’t know to look them up.

This is also extremely convenient. The designated vocabulary words are underlined, and (depending on your e-reader) you either click or double click to get a definition.*

This, too, keeps you in the story, which is an important part of the learning process. Your brain prefers to learn through stories, so if I’m constantly yanking you out to run and find a dictionary, we kind of miss the point!

Both versions have a glossary of more than 500 terms at the back of the book.

Which version you get is up to you! Both have been formulated to sneak in vocabulary words as unobtrusively as possible, while still helping you learn more than 500 potential SAT/ACT words.
